Six time Champion Trainer Nicky Henderson OBE has long been one of the country’s leading National Hunt trainers. From his base at Seven Barrows, near Lambourn he has sent out sixty five Cheltenham Festival winners, making him the most successful trainer at the Festival. His highlights have included two Gold Cup winners in the shape of Long Run and Bobs Worth and a record eight victories in the Champion Hurdle. He has excelled in the two mile division over both obstacles with some greats of the game including Sprinter Sacre and Altior. Nicky and his team have been apart of the Thurloe family since day 1 with SHARPICAL one of our first horses together. Sharpical was our earliest flag bearer, winning what was the Tote Gold Trophy (now Betfair Hurdle) in 1998. Thurloe and Nicky’s record in the race followed on with the exceptional GEOS who not only won the Tote Gold Trophy twice in 2000 and 2004 but also landed the Bula (International) Hurdle at Cheltenham, the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton, the Castleford Chase and finished 4th in both a Champion Hurdle (2002) and a Champion Chase (2003).
