SKY ROCKET BACK IN THE WINNERS ENCLOSURE
Sky Rocket put in a much improved performance to finish 3rd of 9 in the Apprentice Handicap at Goodwood on Friday evening. He broke smartly but was quickly reined back and settled well off the pace. Once in line for home Sky Rocket was about 15 lengths behind the leader and eventual winner. His jockey, Finley Marsh, eased him into the race and two furlongs from home he started to make ground on the leaders. Inside the final furlong, he really started to rattle home, making up a lot of ground and got within a length of the winner and second at the line.
Sky Rocket looked very well in the paddock and had visibly stripped fitter since his last run. Jockey Finley Marsh said how much he liked the horse and felt he was going to come on again for the run. He said when Sky Rocket broke from the stalls he was very unbalanced, so he slowed him down and got him settled. It shows he’s still got plenty of learning to do and there’s lots of improvement to come. Finley Marsh gave him a lovely educational ride and hopefully he will have gained lots of confidence from it.
