SCRUTINISE
Scrutinise was an emphatic winner of the prestigious Hambleton Cup at Thirsk on Saturday afternoon. The Ed Dunlop trained three year old was tackling one mile four furlongs for the first time and was back on the grass after four good runs on the all weather, including a thrilling win at Chelmsford in May. This progressive son of Intense Focus, settled well in behind the pack and was given an excellent ride by Paul Mulrennan, whom steered him wide to challenge two furlongs out. With a furlong to go he drew clear and went on to win readily by two and a half lengths. This was an impressive win from a relatively unexposed horse who seems to be improving for every run. The trip suited him down to the ground and he relished the softer surface.
