BOSSINEY BAY COMES FIFTH IN HOT NEWBURY MAIDEN
On a lovely spring day, on 20th April, Bossiney Bay had her first run of her three year old career and ran a race full of promise when finishing 5th of 14 in a very good maiden at Newbury, beating a number of well-touted fillies in the process. The winner, the regally bred, La Ti Dar is now third favourite for the Oaks. Slowly away from a wide draw, Fran Berry switched Bossiney Bay to the inside to get her to relax behind the field. She made ground turning into the straight and passed a few horses before running green and flattening out inside the final furlong. Only beaten 14 lengths at a huge price of 66/1.
Fran Berry was thrilled with how much Bossiney Bay had improved since he last rode her on her debut at Nottingham last October. He said that she tried hard, showed a good attitude and was much more professional today.
Trainer, Hughie Morrision was delighted by Bossiney Bay’s performance. We will wait to see how she comes out of the race before making plans.
