AMERICAN ARTIST
AMERICAN ARTIST was a ready winner of the maiden at Goodwood yesterday (24th September) and in the meantime provided his trainer, Roger Varian, with his first ever winner at the track. American Artist broke well and was always in a handy position and his jockey, Andrea Atzeni had him ready to pounce with two furlongs to go. The horse quickened impressively and despite a challenge from the fancied, Quick Defence, he went away to win by one length. The first two were clear of the rest of the field.
This was a very pleasing victory after American Artist’s promising debut at Haydock. He clearly was a lot more ‘street-smart’ second time round and proved his jockey and trainer’s faith in the horse. The horse clearly appreciated the step up to seven furlongs and Andrea Atzeni believes he will get further in the future. It looks like we have a horse to look forward to for the future!
