THUNDER PASS and SCRUTINISE
SCRUTINISE was a gallant winner at Chelmsford last night (19.05.15) putting up a brave display to beat Grey’s Angel by a neck after a tremendous battle to the line. James Doyle gave Scrutinise a confident ride from the front and when the second horse came to challenge him he kept on fighting back. The two horses were clear of the remainder by a massive nine lengths! We were delighted with Scrutinise’s performance especially after just failing on his last two efforts this term. James Doyle praised the horse after his victory, “I rode him as a two-year-old and thought he was quite nice. Hopefully he can go on.” It was a thrill to have our first winner with top-trainer Ed Dunlop with a horse who’s half-brother, Grumeti, we had success with on the flat a few years ago.
THUNDER PASS was the first winner of the season for Thurloe at Goodwood on the opening day of the 2015 flat season. Thunder Pass was unlucky with injuries last year but has bounced back from that impressively with a series of good runs, this victory being the highlight. Like Scrutinise, he was given a front running ride by jockey Adam Kirby and went clear from the rest two furlongs from home. The joint favourite, Gavlar, made an impressive challenge to the line but Thunder Pass got to the line just ahead of him, beating him by a short head.
