TRAINER: Andrew Balding
This good moving son of the prolific sire Lope de Vega was bought by Andrew Balding at the Doncaster Sales. He is out of a winning mare, who has produced four multiple winners, including the very useful He’s No Saint, who has now won four times and is rated in the late 90s having won at Lingfield again the other day. This colt’s grand-dam was placed in the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes as a two year old and produced two black type fillies herself, one the dam of Group Two winner Do It All. So the pedigree is full of high-class winners. His young father Lope de Vega, who was champion first season sire in 2014, has produced a host of top-class winners in his stallion career so far, including a superstar in Group One Dewhurst and Lockinge winnerBelardo, Group Two victor Very Special, who was runner-up in this year’s 1,000 Guineas.
Andrew’s best two-year old this season, South Seas, is also by Lope de Vega. South Seas is a Group Three winner and ran a cracker in the Dewhurst, the best juvenile Group One this year.
