CASCADING and EXCEPTIONELLE
Cascading and Exceptionelle went through the ring at the Tattersalls December Breeding Stock Sales this week.
Cascading, a daughter of the champion sire Teofilio, had a wonderful year for her Thurloe. The 3 year old started her season with a very encouraging second to group performer, Inchilla. She then went on to finish fourth to Sultanina, John Gosden’s filly who turned into the Group 1 Nassau Stakes winner. Cascading got off the mark in a game win at Epsom in July. Her best run of the season was when finishing third in the Listed Chalice Stakes, beaten only three-quarters of a length by the subsequent Park Hill Stakes winner, Silk Sari. She finished the season off with a handicap mark of 96. We were delighted to see Cascading sell for 130,000gns, over double the price we bought her for as a yearling. She was bought by Tullpark, on behalf of William and Emma Kennedy, who will put her into training with John Hammond in France to make the most of her French Premiums before going to stud herself.
Exceptionelle went into the ring on Wednesday afternoon. The Roger Varian trained mare looked beautiful and really stood from the rest in the sale. Having won first time out in impressive fashion at Kempton, Exceptionelle always had the potential to be a classy filly. She ran some fantastic races over the course of her sprinting career including a devastatingly unlucky 2nd in a good handicap at Sandown. She finished this season off with a handicap mark of 82. She was bought for 72,000gns and goes to Co. Laois, Ireland to Kilminfoyle Stud.
