FIELD OF FAME
Field of Fame made his racecourse reappearance at Newbury on Saturday after over a year off the track. The son of Champs-Elysees ran once at two, when he made an impressive winning debut at Salisbury. Unfortunately, an injury made him unable to run again at three and Saturday marked his return to the flat.
Backed down to 8-1 third favourite for this large, very competitive 0-90 handicap, Field of Fame ran a superb race to finish third, beaten just over two lengths by the winner. He travelled well throughout the race and ran on gamely after being barged by the eventual winner in the closing stages. It was a fantastic training performance by Andrew Balding, to get the horse in such great condition after such a long lay off. A replay of the race is on the main news page.
